Bilawal says PPP’s 2021 victory was turned into defeat overnight but now the party is in a position to form government in AJK.
ISLAMABAD:(UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,31, 2025) Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the party is now in a position to form government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), adding that during the previous elections, interference by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the establishment turned PPP’s victory into defeat overnight.
Speaking to the media after chairing a meeting of PPP’s parliamentary party in AJK, Bilawal said the foundation of the party was laid on the Kashmir cause, and PPP has always raised the voice for the people of Kashmir on every forum.
He said that despite facing difficult circumstances during the last AJK elections, PPP candidates fought courageously.
However, political interference created a vacuum in the region, which harmed the people. “Even then, PPP continued to play its role in the assembly, and today, we are in a position to form the government,” Bilawal said.
The PPP chairman vowed to meet the expectations of the Kashmiri people, saying that the party believes in democracy and will strive to protect public rights. “From the Prime Minister of AJK to every worker, our effort will be to serve the people and safeguard their demands. I will represent you not only in AJK but across Pakistan,” he said.
In response to a question, Bilawal clarified that the name of the new Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir will be decided in Kashmir, not in Islamabad.
