Jammu:The court of Special Judge for National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases in Jammu on Saturday rejected the bail application of Jan Mohammad Telli, a resident of Soafshalli, Kokernag, who is presently lodged in Agra, in a high-profile case registered under anti-terror laws.

According to Global Mirror, the case originated from FIR No. 16/2021 registered at Gangyal Police Station on February 6, 2021, after police claimed to have intercepted a Santro car near Vishal Mega Mart on Kunjwani Bye Pass, Jammu. A person inside the vehicle, later identified as Hidayat-Ulla Malik, was overpowered, while a woman accompanying him, Baseerat-ul-Ain, escaped. Baseerat-ul-Ain was later granted bail in March 2024.

The investigation was subsequently taken over by the National Investigation Agency and re-registered as a formal NIA case. Charge-sheets have since been filed against multiple accused, including Telli, who was arrested on February 10, 2021. The court order noted that Telli is alleged to have been a close associate of Malik, provided him shelter at a rented room, and participated in a conspiracy aimed at carrying out militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir
