Chandigarh: A series of bomb threat emails targeting the Dera Sachkhand Ballan and at least five schools in Jalandhar, Punjab, were received, a day ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the sect’s headquarters, today.
According to Global Mirror, the threatening emails warned of bomb blasts at the schools and the Dera premises. The messages reportedly described Prime Minister Modi as “an enemy of Khalistanis,” raising concerns about attempts to create panic ahead of his visit.
Senior police officials said bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams were immediately pressed into service to carry out extensive security checks at the affected school premises. “Nothing suspicious was found during the searches,” an official confirmed. The schools were closed on Saturday due to a holiday linked to Guru Ravidas Jayanti.
