Srinagar: The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) is pushing for several key issues in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the release of detained MLA Meraj Malik, citizenship for women and children who returned from Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, and the return of power projects to the territory.

According to Global Mirror, AIP leader Sheikh Khurshid has urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to convene an all-party meeting to discuss Meraj Malik’s participation in the upcoming Assembly session. Malik, who represents Doda, was detained under the draconian Public Safety Act in September 2025.

Khurshid has also introduced resolutions seeking citizenship for women and children who returned from Azad Kashmir and Pakistan under the Omar Abdullah’s Rehabilitation Policy, and addressing the termination of government employees without due process.
