On Monday, February 2, 2026, a group of Hindu men allegedly attempted to desecrate a Mazar (Sufi shrine) in Delhi’s ITO Yamuna Ghat area, sparking outrage on social media. One of the individuals, identified as Akash Pandit, was filmed boldly challenging critics while the group raised “Jai Sri Ram” slogans during the act.

In the widely circulated video, Pandit is heard saying in Hindi: “Karlo karlo, Twitter se tweet karlo meri video, Karlo jitne muqadme karne hain tumhein” (Go ahead, post my video on Twitter, file as many cases against me as you want).

The footage shows the men damaging the site, reigniting tensions over religious structures in the area.

This incident echoes an earlier episode on January 15, when Pandit and his accomplices—claiming affiliation with the Gau Raksha Dal—used an axe to partially demolish the same Mazar.

They had then argued that the shrine was an illegal encroachment next to a temple and needed to be “freed” to reclaim the space. Authorities have not issued any official clarification confirming or denying the encroachment claim, leaving the legal status of the site ambiguous.

Local residents and community leaders condemned the repeated attempts, calling for strict police action to prevent further communal friction.

Delhi Police have yet to comment officially on the February 2 incident or confirm whether FIRs have been registered against Pandit and others involved.

The videos continue to circulate widely, heightening calls for intervention to maintain peace in the sensitive Yamuna Ghat locality. — With Agencies Inputs
