Srinagar: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader MLA Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned the Modi regime’s decision to take down social media pages of prominent Kashmiri news outlets, calling it an “unfortunate” attack on press freedom.

According to Global Mirror, Tarigami demanded restoration of the pages, saying freedom of speech and expression is a constitutional right. “Curtailing platforms of established media outlets is neither constructive nor democratic,” he warned, urging authorities to respect dissenting voices.

The move has sparked concerns over media censorship in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with Tarigami highlighting the role of credible journalism in providing verified information.
