New Delhi: Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent meeting with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has done little to address the state’s long-standing grievances, with Punjab’s fertile lands and resources remaining hostage to India’s exploitative policies.

According to Global Mirror, the security fence along the India-Pakistan border, installed 2-3 km inside Indian territory, has trapped thousands of acres of fertile land, with farmers facing rigorous BSF checks and restrictions.

Mann’s demand to shift the fence to within 150-300 metres of the Zero Line has been met with vague assurances from Shah, leaving Punjab’s land and economy strangled. The BJP regime’s Seeds Bill 2025 and water policies further perpetuate exploitation, while withheld funds and erosion of autonomy expose India’s systematic strangulation of Punjab.
