Srinagar: Contractual workers at the Salal Hydroelectric Project of India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corporation in Reasi have continued their strike for the 12th consecutive day, complaining that the management remains unresponsive to their demands.
According to Gloabal Mirror, the protesting workers said they have been raising issues related to regularisation of services and revision of wages, but no concrete steps have been taken so far. They said that contractual employees are handling a significant portion of operations at hydroelectric projects due to the lack of fresh permanent appointments.
“Contractual staff are managing most of the work, yet our concerns are being ignored,” one of the protesting workers said.
