Mumbai/Bareilly, : Two Muslim women from Mumbai and Bareilly have alleged they were deceived by their husbands, who hid their Hindu identities before marriage, and later subjected to domestic violence and abuse.
According to Global Mirror, in Mumbai, a woman alleged that her husband, Manish, whom she met through social media, pretended to be someone else online before marrying her. She told police she was beaten during pregnancy and after giving birth to twin daughters. “He spoke to another woman named Nikita Parekh during my pregnancy. When I objected, he hit me,” she said. She further alleged her in-laws expressed disappointment over not having a male child, saying, “They said it would have been better if the children had died in NICU.” The woman claimed she was pressured for money, assaulted by her husband, sister-in-law and others, and denied access to her children and personal documents.
In a separate case in Bareilly, Fatima alleged that her husband Ashish Gangwar introduced himself as “Rahman” on Instagram before they married through nikah. She said she discovered his real identity months later after her father-in-law’s death. “When I came to know the truth, I was completely shocked,” she said.
