Srinagar: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that the BJP is pursuing “blackmail politics” over the issue of statehood and obstructing the functioning of the elected government in the territory.

According to Global Mirror, Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar that the delay in cabinet expansion was linked to the denial of statehood and not due to any fear within the ruling National Conference.

“Cabinet expansion has stopped because we have not been given the status of a state,” he said. He alleged that the Leader of Opposition’s statements prove that “until BJP gets a government here, they will not let us work properly and they will not make Jammu and Kashmir a state.” “People of Jammu and Kashmir are being threatened in the name of statehood,” Abdullah said, adding that the BJP was indulging in blackmail politics. He also said that the delimitation exercise in IIOJK was carried out “only to benefit the BJP and its friends.”
