This is the place where the house stood in which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born.
This house belonged to Abdul Muttalib, the chief of Banu Hashim, and it was in this very house that the Prophet ﷺ came into the world on a blessed morning of Rabi‘ al-Awwal. Whether in the time of ignorance or afterward, this place has always been regarded with respect.
After the marriage of Hazrat Abdullah and Hazrat Amina (رضي الله عنها), this house remained with Hazrat Amina, and the birth of the Prophet ﷺ took place here. Later, the house passed to different people, but Muslim rulers in every era preserved it.
Today, a library (Maktabah Makkah al-Mukarramah) stands on this site. The Saudi government has preserved this location as a mark of respect, but it has not been made into a place of visitation to prevent unnecessary gatherings and the introduction of religious innovations.
