Srinagar: The New Delhi-installed BJP regime in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has arrested more than 1,000 Kashmiris in just 50 days, using anti-drug operations as a cover for widespread raids, detentions and property seizures across the territory.
According to Global Mirror, Indian police, acting under the authority of the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor-led administration, have arrested over 1,000 people between April 10 and May 29 during a sweeping crackdown conducted under so-called “Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan”.
The campaign, launched by non-Kashmiri Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 11, has been marked by extensive house raids and search operations. During the drive, authorities arrested 1,018 persons in so-called narcotics-related cases and seized properties worth more than Rs 200 crore on the pretext of taking action against drug peddlers. Official figures show that police attached 89 immovable properties valued at Rs 63.93 crore and demolished 63 properties worth Rs 19.77 crore during the period. In addition, 55 persons were detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
