The popular Khan Global Coaching Institute, run by renowned educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’, was allegedly vandalised and pelted with stones by a group of miscreants in the Kadamkuan area of Patna on Tuesday night.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:10 pm on June 2 when 15 to 20 individuals, reportedly associated with a rival coaching institute, barged into the premises. They damaged property, assaulted a security guard, and created chaos. The guard sustained serious head injuries and has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Khan Sir claimed that the attackers also fired gunshots during the assault. However, police have not confirmed the firing incident, stating that CCTV footage and preliminary investigation do not show evidence of gunfire. The FIR filed in the case reportedly does not mention any shooting. A police team reached the spot promptly, and raids are underway to nab the culprits.
Speaking to reporters, Khan Sir expressed that the attack stemmed from jealousy over his institute’s success in delivering quality education at affordable fees. He highlighted the recent excellent results in the Bihar Police Recruitment exams, saying, “Their primary angst is how someone can teach students at such low cost and still produce thousands of successful candidates every year.”
The atmosphere around the institute remained tense on Wednesday. Following the incident, Khan Sir announced the cancellation of classes for the day. Several students gathered outside the institute and staged a sit-in protest (dharna) on the road, demanding enhanced security for their teacher. They vowed to continue the demonstration until the administration assured Khan Sir’s safety.
Addressing the protesting students, Khan Sir appealed for peace and urged them to clear the roads, emphasising that the institute’s focus is education, not confrontation. He appreciated the swift response of the Bihar Police and district administration, who maintained a presence at the site to prevent further unrest.
The incident has sparked concern among students and the teaching community in Patna. Police have assured that further legal action will be taken as per the law.
